The Daytona 500 is the pinnacle of car races, just like the Super Bowl in football. Here you would see almost all famous racers competing in the 500-miles track to come out as the winner and the best among all. In this long track race, the racers should have their own strategies and skills to outperform fellow top racers. In this upcoming February 17th, it would be the 59th running of the race, and many people still can’t move on from last year’s exciting finishing lap. Why not? The final lap was so intense and the winner, Denny Hamlin just won by the closest finish in the Daytona 500 history, which was by 0.011 seconds. This victory once again brought up the name of Joe Gibbs Racing after the last time Dale Jarett in 1993.
The record for the most victories of Daytona 500 still belongs to Richard petty which has accumulated 200 wins in NASCAR Cup series. Besides Richard petty, there are still the other drivers whom each of them has won NASCAR Premier events for at least twice. They are Petty (seven), Cale Yarborough (four), Jeff Gordon (three), Bobby Allison (three), Dale Jarrett (three), Bill Elliott (two), Matt Kenseth (two), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (two), Jimmie Johnson (two), Michael Waltrip (two) and Sterling Marlin (two). Meanwhile, after suffering from sidelined due to the concussion, Dale Earnhart Jr had to give up almost half of the 2016 campaign. But in this upcoming event, he will once again join the competition and race with the other drivers.
